What I Ate: Food Diaries

Happy Friday, y’all! I have a little something different today than the usual Fit Friday workout. A food diary post!

I’ve done a food diary post once before and ever since, I’ve had a lot of people on Instagram ask for another post similar to that. I’m gonna try to start doing these a few times a month! Honestly, the hardest part is remembering to snap a picture of what I eat before I inhale it, ha! So it helps me slow down and enjoy my food a bit more (;

What I Ate

Obviously I’m not telling you to go out and eat exactly what I’m eating. I’m not perfect and sometimes I indulge with the best of them. I eat when I’m hungry and I usually eat what I have a taste for. So here is what I ate on Monday, aka leg day for me.

Meal 1: Breakfast

Right when I woke up I had a cup of coffee and some vanilla Greek yogurt with strawberries, granola, and cacao chips (chocolate for breakfast…sue me). I had to get to the studio to train a few clients so I had a quick breakfast  with the intention of coming home in a few hours to eat something more filling. This was kinda just to hold me over.

Meal 2: Lunch

When I got home, I had an egg scramble with chicken sausage and asparagus. I try to eat lots of green veggies throughout the day, everyday. The egg scramble has 2 whole, brown eggs,  a little bit of turkey sausage, onions, lots of spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, a little bit of 2% mozzarella cheese, cayenne pepper, and salsa.

Meal 3: Snack

This was a snack. I had an energy bite and another cup of coffee. I rarely have 2 cups in one day but it was Monday so yeah, there’s that.

Meal 4: Pre-Workout

Again, this is not an actual meal. I had a piece of cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread toasted with 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter, cinnamon, and chia seeds on top right before my workout.

Meal 5: Post-Workout

Normally after a workout, I’ll have a protein shake/smoothie. I was in a hurry this day to get back to the studio to train some more clients so I grabbed a Quest bar (pretty much the only protein bar that I’ll eat) and washed it down with a small glass of vanilla almond milk. Let me tell you about the cookie & cream Quest Bar…GO BUY ONE NOW. They are seriously so delicious…even my husband likes them! I order mine from Amazon.

Meal 5: Dinner

My Grandma is the BEST and she made Adam & I dinner Monday night since I worked late (and let’s be honest, Adam does most of the cooking even when I don’t work late, ha!). So after work (around 8 PM) I had a piece of chicken with a small red potato (like really small), and some green beans. Delicious! For dinner I try to have a source of lean protein and a veggie. I keep it simple.

So there you have it…What I Ate, round 2. I don’t follow a specific diet. I just try to choose whole foods as often as possible. Be on the lookout for another What I Ate: Food Diaries post! OH AND HAPPY WEEKEND!
