St. Patrick’s Day Green Smoothie Recipe

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I know some of y’all probably spent the weekend celebrating with some green beer, so I figured today I’d share a healthy smoothie recipe to help get you back on track for the week while still being festive!

If you don’t know already…I love a good green smoothie. I drink them once a day (usually in the mornings) so I play around with the ingredients pretty frequently so that my taste buds don’t get bored drinking them. Green smoothies are a great way for me to get my veggie servings in for the day so I’m about them.

My go-to green smoothie right now uses the following:

  • 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds
  • 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein (mostly for flavor)
  • 1 packet of Stevia in the Raw (I like my smoothies on the sweeter side…you could also use honey)
  • 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 2 heaping handfuls of baby spinach
  • 1 frozen organic banana
  • 1/2 frozen avocado

I throw all of that into my blender (I have a Ninja, but I’m hoping to get a Vitamix soon) in that order and blend away until smooth.

I always try to use frozen fruit when I can, because it makes the texture of the smoothie so much…smoother. I know the avocado sounds weird, but it was a whole new ballgame when I started adding avocado to my morning smoothies. It adds healthy fat PLUS makes the smoothie way creamer. WIN.
