Post-Workout Apple Pie Protein ShakePosted on April 15, 2015 at 12:02 am
I’m here with a delicious smoothie recipe for y’all today! If you’ve been reading for awhile, you know that smoothies are my go-to after an intense workout. Protein smoothies, to be exact. Why? Because working out is essentially tearing our muscles and our bodies need protein to repair our muscles. Whey protein isolate is the quickest way to get that protein into our systems. That’s why I reach for a protein shake right after a workout!
I’ve mentioned before that we have a 30-60 minute window to consume post-workout protein. Protein shakes are a quick and effective way to get what your body needs in that short amount of time.
A lot of my clients always get stuck when it comes to choosing a protein. They all like to eat clean and keep it simple, like me. I got to try this whey protein isolate by Isopure and I have to say, I’m a fan. It doesn’t have a lengthy list of ingredients and it has 0 carbs and 0 fat. I like to get my post-workout carbs from fruit…which is why this protein is perfect for this smoothie recipe:
What You’ll Need:
- 1 apple (without the core)
- 1/4 cup vanilla almond milk
- 1 scoop Isopure protein powder (I used the unflavored one)
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Small handful of ice cubes
What You’ll Do:
Blend everything together in a high speed blender (I use a Vitamix) and enjoy!
This is a delicious protein shake that leaves me feeling replenished after an intense workout! Plus it’s a sweet reminder of the cool fall months (since it’s like 100* here already…wut).
The Isopure protein powder is 100% pure whey protein isolate so your muscles will have exactly what they need post-workout. No chemical junk…just the way I like it!
Give this protein smoothie a try and let me know what y’all think!
