A Shot a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Okay so maybe that’s not exactly how the saying goes, but I’m telling y’all, this shot is going to do you all kinds of good. I take a shot of this concoction every single morning right when I wake up. Before breakfast or coffee. And I chase it (because trust me, you will need to chase it) with a cup of water.

I’ve been drinking apple cider vinegar for about a year, and I took a 2 month break from it awhile ago and MAN I felt a difference.

I make a batch of this every week and take a shot every morning. I keep it in a mason jar and shake it up each time before taking it. That little shot you see in the picture below, is the exact amount that I drink everyday.

Let me tell you what’s in it before I tell you why you should drink it:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup organic, raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with the ‘Mother’)
  • 1/4 cup organic honey
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

This drink smells awful. And it tastes pretty bad, too. So why would you want to drink it then? Allow me to explain…one of my best friends told me about this drink and all its benefits. After reading about the benefits, there was no way I was gonna pass this up.

The Benefits:

  • Known to knock out a sore throat/cold
  • Balances your body’s pH levels
  • Metabolism booster (aka fat loss aid)
  • Detoxes your body
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Keeps your body from feeling stiff

At least try it for a week and see what you think! One of my aunts drinks it every morning and she stopped for a week to see if she felt any different. Her sinuses started acting up and she jumped right back into drinking it. I’m telling you…it’s amazing! Just throw it back and reap the benefits!

*Make sure you buy raw, organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar. I’ve found that the best brand is Bragg!

    Ok I just tried this for the first time! I made an individual serving but tried to follow your ratios so it ended up being 2 tbsp water, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp honey and a pinch of each spice. It smelled like apple pie but burned going down, haha. I’ll definitely try it for a week and see how I feel. Hopefully I can tell a difference. My husband was totally grossed out haha!

  • I love this stuff. Mine a bit different and the more I research this the more I am finding many people do it differently. So happy to see you promoting it as well! I do 1/2 cup warm water, 1/2 lemon, 1 table spoon ACV, 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper & 1/8 teaspoon of turmeric.

    I work out first thing in the morning. Would you suggest still downing a shot pre workout? I didn’t want to do it and then get sick during workout. Thanks

      I drink mine right before I workout some days and I’m okay as long as I have a piece of toast or a banana or something right after the shot, before my workout!

    so you aren’t drinking the total amount that you are making in the recipe listed…you’re just taking a shot glass full, correct?
