Why You Should Keep a Workout JournalPosted on June 29, 2015 at 11:50 am
If you’ve ever met me you know that I am severely type A. Planning makes me happy and making lists is my love language.
So obviously I keep a workout journal…don’t you?
What’s in my workout journal?
On Fridays I sit down and plan ALL of m workouts for the following week. Then when I’m actually doing each workout, I write down what weight I used for each exercise.
Why do I do this?
- I like to see what I accomplished each week.
- It helps me set future goals and see where I excel vs. where I need more work.
- If I’m super sore I can look back and see exactly what I did 1-2 days before.
- HELLO, I get to check off each workout as complete (;
If you’ve never thought about keeping a workout journal – I highly recommend it. It helps save time because you’re not standing around at the gym wondering what to do next, and it’s a great tool to use to track your growth. It might even be a good idea to add in how you felt after each workout – that way you can track your physical and your mental progress.
