A Note to All of You New Year’s Resolutioners at the GymPosted on January 2, 2016 at 10:51 am
So it’s a new year and you’ve set some goals to go along with it. You want to lose fat, build muscle, and just become healthier overall, am I right? You’re going to be the ones crowding the gym from 5 P.M. – 7 P.M. every day after work, aren’t you? Well you know what I have to say about that?
YOU GO GIRL. As a personal trainer and fitness advocate, it makes me SO mad when I see seasoned fitness-lovers giving the New Year’s Resolutioners a hard time. I commend you for wanting to better yourself and become healthier! Don’t let nasty looks or comments about the gym being “too crowded” deter you from staying consistent and doing this for you. You have just as much of the right to be at the the gym as anyone else. And you know something else? The people making rude comments were all in your shoes once.
We all had a day 1. Just because your day 1 is around the new year doesn’t make it any better or worse than anyone else’s day 1. It doesn’t mean that you are less committed. It doesn’t mean that you have to feel self-conscious. You set a goal to go hard at the gym. So you need to go hard at the gym. Go in there with your head held high. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t be embarrassed if you start out only using the cardio machines. You’re there because you want to better yourself. Don’t give up on that just because some people don’t know how to encourage and support goals and dreams of others.
You are strong. you are beautiful. You are enough. Now go kick some ass in the gym, girl!
