Grocery Shopping for the (mostly) Clean Eater

Posted on October 8, 2014 at 12:01 am by

I posted a picture on Instagram this weekend of an outfit and mentioned that I was going grocery shopping. I had a few people ask if I could do a grocery haul post. Well you know the drill…you ask, I make it happen (well try to anyway). I typically go grocery shopping once a week (on Sundays) and spend between $150-200. I know that sounds like a lot, but I also get a lot. I don’t eat out at all... View Article

The Perks of Eating Pumpkin

Posted on October 6, 2014 at 12:01 am by

OH MY GOSH you guys! It got down into the 70s this weekend here in Florida! It’s like a real fall…kinda! I, like most of the world, am pumpkin obsessed around this time of year. As soon as September hit, I bought pumpkin candles for my house and started experimenting with pumpkin recipes. I’ve had a lot of people ask me if pumpkin is healthy. Well I’m here to tell you… YES, it is! Not to be confused with a... View Article

“Whoa…You Eat Chocolate?”

Posted on August 25, 2014 at 12:01 am by

I have a sweet tooth. Always have and probably always will. Instead of giving in to temptation and pigging out on ice cream, cookies, and candy, I try my best to make clean treats that still manage to satisfy my sweet tooth. Some people give me a hard time about eating so healthy. But then when they see me eat something like this I hear, “Oh, you can eat chocolate?” UM actually I CAN eat whatever I want, I just... The Big Deal About Breakfast

Posted on July 8, 2014 at 12:01 am by

We hear it all the time: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” And you know what I think about that? TRUTH. Breakfast is what gets us going…what fuels us for our day. Why do you think it’s called breakfast? Because we’re breaking the fast that we were on while we were sleeping.   Why Skipping Breakfast is a Horrible Idea: If you skip breakfast, your body is running on empty. You need to fuel your body first... View Article

Why You NEED Protein Post-Workout

Posted on July 7, 2014 at 12:01 am by

Clients ask me all the time…”Do I really need protein right after a workout?” YES. The answer is absolutely yes. Why? Well when we workout, we’re essentially breaking down our muscles. In order for them to repair themselves (and grow) they need amino acids (aka protein). There is a window of opportunity…you need to consume protein within 30 minutes of finishing your workout. You can do this by drinking a protein shake/smoothie or eating food that is rich in protein... View Article

A Shot a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

Posted on May 13, 2014 at 12:01 am by

Okay so maybe that’s not exactly how the saying goes, but I’m telling y’all, this shot is going to do you all kinds of good. I take a shot of this concoction every single morning right when I wake up. Before breakfast or coffee. And I chase it (because trust me, you will need to chase it) with a cup of water. I’ve been drinking apple cider vinegar for about a year, and I took a 2 month break from... View Article

Don’t Let Food Fool You

Posted on April 28, 2014 at 12:01 am by

This weekend I was talking with a few people about what they eat. They consider themselves “healthy eaters” and I had to break it to them that some of the stuff that they consider “healthy” just doesn’t really fit the bill. With all the food choices that we have these days, it’s really easy to get confused about what is truly good for you and what isn’t. Trust me, sometimes I have to do a little research on certain things... View Article
