What Can a Personal Trainer Do For You?Posted on January 12, 2015 at 12:01 am
As most of you know, I’m a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. And can I just take a second to say…I LOVE WHAT I DO. I really struggled with finding what I wanted to do during college. I was all over the place. I never thought that I would ever find something I am so passionate about. I’m so thankful that my friends and family encouraged me to go into personal training. It’s what I was looking for in a job: it’s not a 9-5 desk job and it involves helping people. PLUS a bonus…it involves my passion/hobby – health & fitness.
I took it to the next level and tied in another hobby of mine – writing/blogging. I still can’t believe that I get to do what I love every day – training people in person, blogging, writing online training programs, filming workout videos. It’s amazing and it challenges me! I encourage you to find something that you’re passionate about and pursue it. Don’t settle. We spend so much of our time working so it needs to be something that we love!
Okay…now on to the post.
Sometimes people think that they don’t need a trainer. That they can workout on their own. And while that might be true for some people, I really think that most people can benefit from having a personal trainer. Y’all…I have a trainer and I am one! I workout with Drew once a week and he teaches me new things and helps me with proper form and gets me out of my comfort zone. NO ONE is above having a trainer. Athletes are professionals at what they do and they have trainers!
Here’s what we (trainers) can do for you:
- We can encourage you when times are tough. I make sure to build a solid relationship with all of my clients. I like to know what’s going on in their lives, because those things can impact how you perform during workouts or how much drive you have to even do your workouts. I am there as a listener. I am there as a friend. I am there to help my clients overcome boundaries that are keeping them from successfully working out.
- We can make sure that you’re exercising safely and effectively. It’s easy to think that you’re doing an exercise correctly if you’ve been doing it the same way your whole life. But as trainers, we are taught certain body cues to check for to make sure that you are preforming moves correctly, without the potential of injuring yourself. If you’re doing an exercise correctly you will be safe and your results will be better.
- We can push you outside of your comfort zone. Sometimes when people workout on their own they “cheat”…(my clients have confessed this to me). They skip exercises or don’t do as many reps as they should be doing or don’t challenge themselves. Or another case – sometimes people are afraid to try new things so they just go to the gym and get on the treadmill or elliptical for 30 minutes and call it a day and wonder why they’re not getting the results they want. Trainers will push you to try new things and to be your best you.
- We can inspire you with new ideas that get you closer to your goals. Sometimes our workout routines cause us to plateau. Trainers can spice up your workouts and make sure that you’re doing what you need to be doing to get where you want to be. One of our goals is to help you to love living a healthy and fit life!
There are a lot of options out there for different types of people when it comes to choosing a trainer. I offer online training, one on one training, and then I also have an online gym with workout videos.
I encourage you to really think about working with a personal trainer to get you closer to your goals. It can make such a positive difference and even cause you to love working out! I offer both online training and personal training. Speaking of which…can we talk about how CUTE my new business cards are?!
I am OBSESSED and can’t wait until I get them in my hands! If you’re looking for a personal trainer, I would LOVE to be on your side. Get in contact with me (:
Happy Monday, babes!
