Tips for Making Healthier Choices at Theme Parks

I live about an hour and a half away from the world’s theme park capital (or so it seems)…Orlando. My brother & I spent Sunday at Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure & The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It was such a beautiful day…the weather was gorgeous and the crowds weren’t too bad either! Plus it was nice hanging out with my brother since we don’t get to see each other as much as we used to.

I posted a picture of us hanging out by Hogwarts on Instagram and someone asked me if I had any tips for eating clean at theme parks…BOOM blog post idea! So here I am today ready to give y’all some ideas for making healthier choices at theme parks.

Tips for Making Healthier Choices at Theme Parks

1. Start the morning with a big breakfast.

Skip the protein bar or banana for breakfast. Instead opt for a nice, filling breakfast that will hold you over for the majority of the morning. Think protein. One of my favorite nutritious and filling breakfasts: asparagus, 1/2 of a grapefruit, and 2 eggs with cayenne pepper (those are the yolks cracked, not cheese).

2. Pack snacks.

I brought a Quest bar to have as a snack. You could also bring something like almonds or raw energy bites.

3. Look up the park’s restaurants ahead of time.

My brother and I took some time to read through the restaurants’ menus when it was time for lunch. We ate at a place that offered fresh seafood so we both got mahi mahi with a side of veggies. It’s really easy to find the restaurants and their menus on the theme park website. Take a little bit of time to plan and you’ll be glad you did. Since we fueled our bodies with nutritious food, we had plenty of energy to get through the second half of the day.

4. Have dinner prepared for when you get home.

When I got home from being at the theme parks all day I was SO hungry. I was so glad that I had dinner planned and prepped. Since I had dinner ready to go, I didn’t have an excuse to stop through a drive-thru or something on the way home.


5. Stay hydrated.

Simple enough, right? Drink water throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated. Sometimes when you’re dehydrated your body thinks it’s hungry. Which could make those churro and fried turkey leg stands seem very tempting. Which is not a situation you want to be in…so drink up!
