The Busy Girl’s Guide to Working Out

If you’re anything like me, time is not something that you have very much of. A lot of people tend to push working out to the bottom of their to do list when schedules get hectic. To me…that’s not okay. Working out is just as important as showering or brushing your teeth. They’re all forms of taking care of our bodies, am I right?

Well if you’re having trouble fitting working out into your busy schedule, I’ve got your back! Today I’m sharing tips for busy girls to get their workouts in. And I promise I can relate. I work 3 jobs, am a wife and I also try to have somewhat of a social life in my “spare time.”  So I use these tips myself!

The Busy Girl's Guide to Working Out

Tips for Fitting a Workout into a Busy Schedule:

1. Make working out a priority.

Like I mentioned earlier, I consider working out to be part of my daily hygiene routine. Being active and keeping your body healthy is an essential part of life. You wouldn’t skip taking a shower or brushing your teeth because you’re too busy. You make time for things like that. You have to make working out a priority.

2. Schedule your workouts ahead of time.

Planning ahead is one of the things that helps me the most. Every Sunday, I sit down with my planner and write down my weekly workouts. It takes me like half an hour, but it makes the week go by so much smoother. I wake up already knowing when I’m working out that day and what I’m going to do for my workout. Having my workouts planned out lessens the chance of me skipping my workout for the day.

3. Choose workouts that work with your schedule.

If you’re busy, don’t plan workouts that take 2 hours a day. Consider workouts that are quick, but still effective, like HIIT. I only have time to workout 45-60 minutes each day. I keep that in mind when I’m writing up my workouts. By keeping my workouts in a certain timeframe, I enjoy working out and don’t let it stress me out, because I’ve made the time for it and fit it into my schedule.

4. Workout with a friend.

Accountability is really going to help you! It’s easy to skip a workout if the only person you’re ditching is yourself, but if you promised your BFF that you’d meet her at the gym, you’re gonna feel bad about canceling on her. Plus, I think working out is more fun with someone else. I tend to push myself harder when I’m sweating with a friend rather than by myself.

I hope these tips help you fit working out into your busy schedule! Remember that working out shouldn’t be a chore. Find something that you enjoy doing and that keeps you motivated!

    I find that once i have committed on my blog to what I plan to do the coming week it makes me stick to my workout goals! 🙂

    This is my biggest issue! I can’t say that right now since it’s summer and I don’t really have anything to do. BUT I think if I did what you suggest and work it into my day (like right after school) then I would actually do it!

    It’s my goal to start using your workouts once I get more of a routine again!

    I know this might be a silly question but I was wondering what kind of planner you use? I am a nursing student and am trying to find an everyday planner that works for my workouts as well 🙂
