Sometimes People Won’t Get It – And That’s Okay

Hey y’all! Long time no blog…oops! I didn’t even realize how long it had been since I’d done an actual post – I try to crank them out 2-3 days a week but my wheels have been turning non stop since school started. Either way, I’m back today (: And with a little “preach it, girl” post coming at you.

That's Okay

Sometimes people won’t get it…

Get what you ask? Anything that you do. In my case, the 2 biggest things that people “don’t get” are why I choose to spend my time working out/eating healthy rather than going out and why I’ve chosen to go back to school when I’m “so good at what I do now.”

Listen – sometimes there are going to be things that you want to do. Things that you know you need to do. You get fired up and excited to pursue these things. You spend time sitting and thinking about how you can justify it to others. How you can make it seem like a great thing to them, too. But guess what? It doesn’t have to be great to anyone else. As long as it’s making you happy and it’s not harming anyone else, then does it really matter if other people don’t get it? Is that going to stop you from doing it?

Let’s say you choose to eat healthy and workout. If you go to a work luncheon and you skip the dessert table, chances are someone is going to ask why. Then proceed to tell you that you’re crazy for passing up a cupcake. In reality, that person doesn’t think you’re crazy – they probably just feel guilty that they don’t have the self-control that you do. So I say this – YOU DO YOU.

You’ve got goals and just because someone else doesn’t understand why you have those goals…that’s okay. Stay focused, get stuff done, and show them that yeah, I might seem crazy, but I’m happy doing what I’m doing.

Don’t let anyone get you down – your goals are just that…YOURS!

xo, Jess

This could not be more true! My family still struggles with this, especially at holiday’s if I pick and chose what to eat! But love your mentality, you really do just have to do you!
