On Loving Yourself

Hey babes! I hope you’re still going strong this week, waking up excited to take on each day (: I want to try to get back to writing posts other than just workouts so today is my attempt to do just that.

And it just so happens that I’m talking about a topic that is a huge deal to me:

Loving Yourself

Loving yourself is such a simple concept but how many people actually take it to heart? We live in a world where it is so easy to fall into the comparison trap. We compare ourselves (our bodies, our success, our income, etc) to others and neglect to realize how amazing we are as individuals.

When you compare yourself to others you are selling yourself short.

What do I mean by that? That you shouldn’t be inspired by others or look up to their accomplishments? NO. There are different ways to be inspired by someone. Some are healthy and others…not so much. Here’s what I think: if someone inspires you in a healthy way, they make you want to be the best version of yourself, whereas if someone inspires you in an unhealthy way, you start disliking things about yourself and striving to be someone else. If you’re too busy focusing on wanting to be someone else, how are you going to be your best self? Put your time and energy into YOU!

Here’s the bottom line: you are the only you there is. Embrace yourself. Love yourself. It’s okay to be proud of who you are and what you’ve accomplished. It is possible to love yourself and still be humble. You are capable of so much. The world needs your uniqueness. Love yourself so that you can love others.

When it comes to your health + fitness journey, I am a HUGE believer in loving yourself throughout the entire process. You can’t just love yourself once you reach your goals…because if that’s your mentality, you’ll probably never actually reach your goals.

I’ll end with this quote, “The grass is greener where you water it.” Water your grass and you will grow. Neglect your grass and focus on someone else’s and your grass is probably going to wither away. You are strong. You are beautiful. You are enough.

xo, Jess
