Love > Hate

Sometimes I hear people (mostly females) really hating on their bodies. I know it’s tough to love your body as it is (we are our own worst critics), but I think that’s one of the keys to having a successful fitness journey. I’ve said this before and I’ll keep saying it: you have to love yourself NOW, because where you’re at is going to take you where you want to be.

Having goals is important. Very important. I also think it’s important to make sure that the main reason why you’re looking to improve your physique is for YOURSELF. Because you love yourself and want to be the healthiest, best YOU. Not because you’re seeking the approval of others. Not because you hate yourself. Not because you want to fit in that bikini for Spring Break (although, that is a perk of course!).

I want you to remember something. And really hear me out here. We workout because we LOVE our bodies…NOT because we hate them.

To me, a successful health & fitness journey is well rounded. Yes, you’re dropping pounds and inches. Starting to love what you see in the mirror. BUT more importantly, you’re feeling better on the inside. You’re happier. Healthier. Able to do more. Those things right there are what’s gonna carry you through the hard times and help you persevere when you feel like you’ve hit a plateau. The physical improvements of health & fitness are fabulous…no doubt about it. But I just want to remind everyone to make sure that we are striving for those improvements because we love ourselves and our bodies (:

It’s not always gonna be easy. But I can assure you, it will always be worth it. Keep at it…work hard. Don’t give up. Dedication = results. You’ve got this! I believe in you!

I love this post so much Jessica!! It is definitely something I struggle with on a daily basis. Learning to love yourself is so hard. There is no book that can teach you. I’ve always had really awful self-esteem and I constantly think if I lose weight and get fit it will miraculously change, but I’m beginning to see it won’t. It is such a battle!
