You know what I’ve been seeing a lot of lately? Frustration. That January “new year, new me” fire is starting to go out for quite a few people…they are getting frustrated that they aren’t at their goals RIGHT NOW. Well y’all…I have something to tell you – it takes more than 4-6 weeks (usually) to reach your “goal body.” This health + fitness thing isn’t a destination, it really is a journey.
Even when you do reach your “goal body” you’re going to have to maintain that. You don’t get to just stop working out and making smart food choices and keep the body that you worked so hard for.
You’ll have to set new goals and make new plans of action. You can’t get frustrated and give up – you’ve got to enjoy the journey. Embrace getting to know what works for you and your body. Find a love and passion for working out and eating healthy.
This was my body in January:
I was fresh out of a photo shoot and I was beautifully bronzed. After my photo shoot was over, I wanted to focus on putting on a little bit of muscle in my upper body and growing my booty a little bit. I knew that losing some ab definition would be a possibility during that process. And I was okay with that.
Fast forward to today, just a few weeks later, and you can see that my abs aren’t as defined, but I have reached my upper body goals and my booty is happily growing.
Not to mention that I don’t have a spray tan, haha! But the point is – I am OKAY with where I am at today! Because I know that it is part of my journey. I’m now focusing on tightening up my core again.
When I look in the mirror I don’t see my not-as-defined abs. I see my strong upper body and lifted booty – it’s all about perception, guys. Don’t get lost in your “weaknesses” – show some love to your strengths and ENJOY THE JOURNEY!
