Today I want to talk about something that I’m sure you’ve all heard before. But in the name of Flaunt It February, it’s my turn to tell you. Your health & fitness goals are a journey not a destination. You don’t magically reach all of your goals and then get to eat whatever you want and stop being active. I mean you can do that, but I don’t think you’d be happy with the results.
You see…health & fitness is all about balance. There is no “one size fits all” method. You have to figure out what works best for you and reaching your goals. Sometimes you’re going to love what you see, and other times you’re going to want to work harder in order to love what you see. Different stages of life means different results. When I was moving, dealing with trying to decided what I wanted to do as a career, and stressing out about getting engaged, I’ll admit it: my health & fitness took a hit. I wasn’t being as careful with what I was eating. I slacked off on my workouts. I was full of excuses. I looked in the mirror and was mad about what I saw. But I didn’t sulk. I used that as motivation. It kicked my butt into high gear and I got moving. Use your low points to ignite change.
I have people asking me all the time what I do. I love sharing how I do things with y’all, but I want you to know that what works for me, might not work for you. What works for bikini competitors doesn’t work for me. But I can assure that SOMETHING will work for you. It might take a lot of trial & error, but it’s out there and it’s your job to find it. As long as you’re dedicated and trying your best, the results will come. We all have different goals, so don’t base your journey on someone else’s goals.
One thing I want to make VERY clear: you should be working out and making healthy choices because you LOVE yourself, not because you hate yourself. Even though you might not look exactly how you want to look right this second, you still need to love yourself right where you’re at. Where you’re at is going to bring you where you want to be. Your health & fitness journey starts from your inside and blossoms to your outside.
What works for me: Working out intensely 5 days per week. Working out moderately 1 day per week. Taking 1 rest day but still being active that day. Eating mostly clean foods. Enjoying wine and chocolate a few nights a week. Getting good sleep. Drinking a ton of water. Having croutons in my salad. Spending time outside. Painting my nails. Wearing cute workout gear.
Health & fitness is super important and a high priority for me. BUT I also make sure to have balance and not become obsessed. If I miss a workout, I make up for it by making really healthy eating choices that day. I make sure to keep more than just my body healthy…I keep my mind and soul healthy, too by making time to do things that I enjoy. It’s all about the B’s: Be fierce. Be fabulous. Be fit.
Just remember…be the best YOU. You are strong. You are beautiful. Find what works for you and flaunt it, girlfriend!
