When Life Gets Crazy…

Life has been a little crazy lately to say the least. Crazy doesn’t mean bad in this case, it just means hectic. I love everything that I’m doing, there is just SO much of it right now! I’m:

  • working 3 jobs (I include Glisten as a job…it’s time consuming!)
  • planning a wedding (2 weeks and 1 day to go…omgomgomg)
  • semi-moving (I’m slowly moving some of my stuff into our new house…I won’t be living there until after the wedding though)

I’m super glad that I’m able to have the opportunity to do what I love, I just have to keep telling myself that all the hard work will pay off one day (: I’m really thankful to have the support that I have…my friends & family push me to keep going after my dreams. You know what else they all keep reminding me?

That it’s necessary to take time to enjoy yourself.

Notice I didn’t say it’s important, but necessary. It’s so easy to get caught up in what needs to get done. The daunting, ever-growing to-do lists. The chores. The meetings.

Sometimes you have to stop what you’re doing and take time to enjoy yourself. Life is meant to be enjoyed. I don’t want to live for money. Or to work. I want to live to bring happiness to others. To inspire. To laugh. To soak up the sunshine. To learn.

For me enjoying myself means putting on cute clothes and red lipstick just because (see above picture). I quickly had to change out of this to go teach some classes at the studio I workout, but hey, I don’t get to dress in anything other than gym clothes hardly anymore so I wanted to.

Enjoying yourself might look like taking a bath with a glass of wine, going on a hike, sleeping in one day, enjoying coffee on your patio, or turning off your phone for 5 minutes to stare at a wall with no interruptions (YES). Whatever it is…DO IT. Make time to enjoy yourself every single day. Even if it’s just for 5 minutes.

It’s necessary for your well-being if you ask me.

Yes, it is necessary! You are so amazing and inspiring, Jess! I don’t know how you balance it all. And, your wedding in two weeks! WHAT?!?!!?!? When did that happen?!?! So excited for you and Adam, and can’t wait to see pictures of your wedding. Thank you for all you do for me (and many others). I absolutely love Glisten, and it has helped me so much.

Hi, Jess! I’ve been following your Lovely Little Things blog for a few years and now Glisten Fit, and I absolutely love it. My husband and I have been doing your workouts since January and can seriously tell a difference. I love that they’re simple enough to do anywhere and they kick our butts! I also just wanted to say congratulations on getting married in just a few short weeks! Your advice is so great – enjoy these moments because they go so fast. Our wedding seems like a blur now, but it was so much fun! I won’t speak for everyone who follows Glisten, but I will say I totally understand if you miss a post or two in the next couple of weeks! Congratulations!!! Enjoy YOUR day!
