What To Do If It Rains On Your Wedding Day

Every bride wants to look and feel her best on her wedding day…I was no different! I had a mini-panic attack when it started down pouring before our ceremony, because I didn’t want to look like a sad, wet puppy. Luckily, my hair (Adam’s mom & sister!) and makeup teams were fabulous and my look held up well considering the weather. My photographers were also amazing and captured some amazing shots of everyone and every moment. This week I’m going to share my favorite bridal portraits and next week I’m going to share my favorite sweetheart portraits!

Things to remember if it rains on your wedding day:

1. Frizzy hair doesn’t mean your entire wedding is ruined.

2. Rain actually makes your pictures look better…everything is saturated, making for gorgeous colors.

10255556_10152196833579615_9031309282229516832_n9. Rain is romantic. Think about all the memorable scenes in love movies….9/10 take place in the rain, right?

A little note: if it rains on your wedding day, they say it’s good luck…well I call BS. I think that’s just something they say so brides won’t lose it if it rains on their big day. Well I definitely lost it. I walked into the reception area with my bridesmaids to take a look at how the decor was coming along and the sky decided to fall. Our reception was in a stable with a tin roof, so the rain sounded 20 times worse than it actually was. At this moment, one of my bridesmaids handed me her phone, my soon-to-be husband was on the other line. He calmed me down and reminded me that it didn’t really matter if it was raining or not…we were still getting married!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Aww, Adam sounds like such a sweet heart, and I am in love with your dress! It is so gorgeous, and so are you! You’re hair, make-up, flowers, dress, everything looks so beautiful!

It sounds like things worked out just fine for you. I had a friend who got married and it decided to monsoon that day. She had an outdoor ceremony set up and only a tent between the raindrops and the muddy ground. It was a DISASTER to say the least, but she was just as blissful. It didn’t seem to effect her one bit. I think her family was more bothered by it than she was. Even with all of the planning, there are just some things that are out of our control. I say just go with it!

Glad things worked out for you! It rained on my day and I about lost it, but you’re so right! What matters is that you got to marry the man of your dreams.

I know I’ve said this before, but your pictures are simply GORGEOUS!

These are fabulous! My favorite is “its raining on your wedding day… it’s still your wedding day!”

  • You certainly held it together well in the photos! You’d never know that there was a drop of rain! Beautiful! I had one of those adorable wire name hangars made and that was the one thing I forgot to pack to bring with all my “getting ready” stuff. It stayed home and in the closet! Oh well. Worst things could happen 🙂
