Being Fit & Healthy Isn’t Just PhysicalPosted on June 10, 2015 at 12:37 am
When people hear words like “fit” and “healthy” their minds usually go straight to working out. While regular exercise is a HUGE part of being both fit and healthy, there is so much more to it than just that.
I think that the physical part of being healthy (i.e.: working out) is much easier than the mental part is. Sometimes I find myself being so consumed with my workouts/what I’m eating that I forgot to UH HELLO…live my life and enjoy myself.
It’s so important for us to take care of ourselves on the INSIDE – not just the outside. Some of my favorite ways to keep myself mentally healthy are:
1. Get a pedi.
Is there really anything more relaxing than getting a pedi? I love choosing bright colors (especially in summertime) and just relaxing for 30 minutes while I get my toes done. Sometimes I even go all out and bring a book and leave my phone in the car so I can unplug for a little while. It’s heaven.
2. Spend some time outside in the sunshine (with my sweet pups, of course).
Anyway, one of my favorite things to do to take care of myself mentally is getting outside. Sunshine is good for the soul. Seriously. If I’m feeling stressed a quick walk outside usually does the trick. There’s just something about being hugged by the warmth of the sun and kissed by the Florida breeze (when there IS a breeze that is #floridaproblems).
3. Changing out of my workout clothes and into REAL clothes (this doesn’t happen often for me, y’all).
Okay…confession. I spend 90% of my time in workout clothes. Technically, workout clothes are my “work” clothes since I’m a personal trainer. But still…sometimes a girl needs to spruce herself up a little, you feel me?! I like to put on cute outfit and actually DO my hair (buns all the way right now…it’s HOT in Florida).
Oh and the kicker – accessories! I am a sucker for arm candy. Bangles, wraps, watches, bracelets…all of it. They just complete my outfit. This is my go-to summer stack. It’s light and compliments everything!
Can we talk about that WOODEN watch?! How freaking cute is it? I’m obsessed. If I’m not in workout clothes, I’m wearing this watch. Here’s a better look at it:
When JORD reached out, I was so pumped, because I’ve never seen a wooden watch before (or I would’ve already owned one). I wore it to watch the hockey game on Monday night (GO BOLTS!) and I got so many compliments on it (from girls AND guys *hair flip).
To browse their selection (they have watches for men and women – hello perfect Father’s Day gift) visit their site. Good luck picking just ONE that you want to purchase though (Seriously – they’re amazing. You’ve been warned).
What are some of your favorite ways to take care of yourself mentally?
I was given this watch by JORD, but all opinions are my own. I really adore this watch!
