Valentine’s Day is right around the corner so I have L-O-V-E on the mind more than usual. But not just any love…self love.
Working in the fitness industry, I see a lot of self image issues, especially in women. It’s hard for women to love themselves right where they’re at. But listen…the woman you see in the mirror RIGHT NOW is who will get you where you want to be. So you’ve got to love her.
1. Stop comparing yourself to others.
Your journey is just that…YOUR journey. You can’t compare the beginning of your journey to the middle of someone else’s. If you put your time and effort into bettering yourself you are going to get so much farther. Strive to be the best you…not the best someone else!
2. Compliment yourself at least once a day.
This is a big one. When you wake up, look in the mirror and say one thing that you love about yourself. It can be physical or a personality trait. The more you focus on and acknowledge what you love about yourself, the more drive you’ll have to work hard and get closer to your goals.
3. Choose workouts that you enjoy doing.
Working out doesn’t have to be boring or miserable. There are SO many different types of workouts. You can do HIIT, yoga, barre, weightlifting, dance classes…do some trial and error and find what you love and what makes you feel good! Just move your body and be active (:
4. Treat yourself.
A new workout outfit or pair of running shoes can go a long way. When I look good, I feel good! Treat yourself to a new sports bra or pair of workout pants and go kill your workouts!
5. Be proud of how far you’ve already come.
Remember why you started and where you started. Celebrate small steps and use them as motivation to conquer even more goals.
Guess what? You are strong. You are beautiful. You are enough! I believe all of these things…now YOU have to believe them!
